In 1989 Sam Mustafa began his undergraduate degree at Southern Illinois University, graduating in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Throughout his undergrad, Mustafa worked at various fast-food chains, sparking his interest in the food service industry. Upon graduation, Mustafa opened up his first restaurant in Carbondale, Illinois called Sam’s Cafe. Sam’s Cafe was an instant success and lead Mustafa to pursue a life-long career in the hospitality industry.
In 2005, Sam Mustafa founded Charleston Hospitality Catering, a successful catering company known for their eclectic menu from Moroccan theme to Southern BBQ style grub. In 2008, Mustafa decided to transform Charleston Hospitality Catering into the Charleston Hospitality Group (CHG). This company creates custom packages to bring great food, nightlife, entertainment, and first-class transportation to locals and visitors in the Charleston area. As an award winning travel resource, voted #1 by U.S readers of Conde Nast Traveler and Travel+Leisure, CHG has established themselves as a valuable community resource. Additionally, CHG is a long-term generous donor to various organizations, including the Dorchester 2 Educational Foundation, Invisible Illness, and Meals on Wheels.
